A one time member on here [Wintonian RIP] posted this stopover on the forum, it looked good so I vowed to visit it at some time, well on our recent 2 month jolly to France we found ourselves near this POI and decided to visit it, it is a super place to be, free to stay and free services,it is on a Canal with a lake and several locks, , it has toilets , library play park for kids , great walks ,with a town near for supplies, Aire is at ,N48.11306 W2.89008 .I floated a candle down the canal in memory of Wintonian.

He helped me out a couple of years ago when I needed to get parts delivered while on holiday in France. He recommended a different lakeside parking spot to us. It’s funny, I only met him once, but I was thinking about him when I was driving through France last week. RIP

I never met him unfortunately, but he was very kind enough to offer me help when I had an issue (which I managed to sort myself) in Brittany. So I too think of him whenever I go to France V1nny.

Yes, David was a great guy.
As you say, it's in the POIs (AF Saint-Gerand).

Isn’t it good to remember people fondly when they’re not here any more. I hope someone has a kind word for me occasionally when I’m gone.

But hopefully not too soon !!

Wint was always going on about inland Brittany been a great place to explore and he was right. There are some lovely places and some nice free and easy aires and wild spots to escape to when the coast gets a bit manic. Lovely part of the world.
