Squeaky habitation door

When opening and shutting the habitation door it squeaks loudly every time.

Sprayed the hinges with WD40 but still squeaks.

I was wondering if maybe it was more to do with the hinges not being adjusted properly creating stress in the door frame.

Is there any way to adjust the habitation door hinges to see if this stops the squeak?

Or is there a better hinge lubricant out there to cut out hinge squeel?

I tried silicone spray on ours which worked for a while but then the squeak returned. My latest is a spray on 3-in-1 oil which is currently holding up well (but I only did it a few days ago tbf).

On the subject of hab doors: when ours is in direct warm sun, it must swell as it becomes a bit of a sod to open and close. Anyone else come across this?

Ours does the opposite and becomes harder to close when cold so presumably the frame shrinks more than the door. Now that we are in Spain it is closing fine but squeaks loud enough to wake up the whole encampment in the morning. I’ll try cooking oil and see if that helps. WD40 is more of a degreaser than a lubricant so may well make any squeaks worse rather than better but it was worth a try.

We are currently near the France/Spanish border and on our way down to Villajoyosa. We will be in Span for 6 weeks and a hoping that I can get our hab door in some shade to stop it sticking.

Yes agree on the WD40 - more of a degreaser. As I said standard 3-in-1 is currently working so might be worth getting some from a garage/Chinese supermarket

I use that GT something, it’s got silicone in it and I find it lasts longer than when I use wd40.

After trying the wd40 and other sprays with no joyI took the door off.
2 screws on the bottom of 3 hinges on ours then a bit of back and forwards and push up and it comes off easily.
Cleaned up and used some grease to lubricate

Anywhere there is water spray try using 24C Marine grease with PTFE.

Hi, WD-40 is corrosive and not good for this type of application.
White lithium grease spray available from Halfords or Amazon is the answer. It's used by garages on car doors etc and it can be used on locks.
Ordinary grease and oils changes with temperature and seizes up locks and hinges but the white lithium doesn't.
Hope this helps. Mark
