Bit confused on this.......
My self converted minibus is regd as a Motorhome, and apparently now is allowed to travel at car speeds? Is that correct? It is rated as 3.5 t (iveco daily 40 c 14).
Do these rules apply in France,Spain etc?
Also,on some roads in France we saw 100kph signs, with a sign underneath saying 3.5t 80kph,fair enough, but not all roads with 100kph signs had the 80 sign, does this mean only certain roads have the 100/80 limit,or all 100 kph roads should have the 80 restriction, but they havent fitted it?

Hi in UK
Over 3050 kg single carriage way 50 mph
Duel carriage way 60 mph
Motorway 70 mph
Under 3050 kg same rules as a car
Hope this helps

The 80kph signs refer to over 3.5t, you are ok at 100kph. Some of the new speed cameras in France flash if you exceed the truck speed, but I think they operate on a height meter and presumably someone looks afterwards.

Just a small point but has your van been downplated, the 40 in its name plate would normally stand for 4000kg, a 3500 kg version would be a 35. The 14 stands for 140hp. Ivecos are heavy due to the heavy duty chassis rails and I doubt it would get under the 3050kg unladen weight rule.

60mph?

I regularly do 60 on a big wide a road and passed many a camera van. Max weight 3.5 t but I reckon unladen is about 3t....how would they check? Take me to a weigh bridge?

I think the speed limit in this country for vans on the motorway is 110 to 120 mph
