Wasn't expecting to find this whilst checking my waste water tank.Just wondering if anyone has one of these as none of the photos relating to the Fiat spare wheel recall seem to show this model of carrier. My van came with the tin of spray and have been looking into a spare wheel carrier and lo and behold find this.It has the winder just behind the rear o/s wheel.

At a guess I,d say that was the one fitted at the recall ours was wound from the rear then after the recall the replacement winds from where yours does

Thanks for that. The guy we bought the van from wasn't the kind to miss a recall repair. The reason i ask is that one of the many articles ive read stated the new unit had a pentagonal key as opposed to a hex.I find it strange he had the gunk but had a hefty spare wheel carrier.Maybe he was just worried about payload,i think he was a HGV driver.

Just looked and Yes ours has a pentagonal key. I had the recall done myself at our local dealer

It looks like the picture winds from behind the back wheel and needs a 5 sided tool to do this. Do you have a 5 sided tool to operate yours. Mine is definatly the one fitted on recall

Didnt receive any wind up tool.Dont want to put a wheel on there without making sure so will contact Fiat.

Have you looked with the jack and wheel brace under the passenger seat thats where mines kept you need the wheel brace to operate the tool.

I gave the mech a good wd ing so will attempt to operate it then
