Just returned from Spain after a 2 1/2 month stint. Almeria is a great place to stay as long as you wish but only in a particular parking spot with no hassle from the cops. To get there you need to approach Almeria from the North side and come down the steep hill and through the tunnel. Drive by the docks keeping right at all times. Drive under the viaduct and bear right and follow the road until you get to the car park on the right. You will come to a round a-bout with a statue of a mermaid and an old boat on the round the bout. Keep right and bear off immediately on the round about into the parking spaces along the front. Best space is at the end of this stretch of parking as you can park long ways. Here you have everything you need. Showers on the beach (no soap allowed) Drinking water from tap on the Promenade. Toilets right there on the beach 20 metres from your MH. You can empty out daily after 12:00 until 19:00. Refill fill water 24/7. If you have solar panels you can last out forever here. Plenty of action on the Promenade, with sellers selling their wares and a lot of Cafes and shops. No Brits as far as I know with just a handful of others. Really nice, as it is a local area and it is great. A large Supermercado is 2 minutes walk from where you are parked up.
Next spot is Tavernes de la Val Digna which is 1 1/2 hours drive further south. It is next door to Gandi. It is a large piece of opened land with a 24/7 tap of running drinking water. The toilets are at the entrance of the beach. Beautiful sands and water I felt was the warmest around the Costa del Sol. In winter (I hear) it is choc-a- block with MH's. Been told over 100 or so stop here for the winter. The mayor is all for it as it brings business to the area. The latest news is that some one is building a Campsite right next door. The mayor has stated he will not force the MH's to go into the Campsite. The Campsite owner must take pot luck if anyone wishes to stay on his site. To get there, turn off for Tavernas de la Val Digna and follow the signs for the beach, NOT for the town. Approaching the beach area the road turns automatically right, drive to the end, turn left then next right and drive to the end of the Palm tree island with a play area for the kids. In front of you is the open/waste land There is always a couple MH's parked up., mostly Dutch. Town is a 10 minute walk with a small super market. ☺☺☺
Hope this helps.
