I think I've posted about this before but this is a brilliant scheme for those of you that have mobility issues. I posted about the partner scheme a while back in the lake District.

I think it's worth mentioning again as the countryside Mobility scheme in the south west is brilliant. On this trip we have done 15 Tramper trips so far. Only draw back for some is you need someone with you who is reasonably fit. You can't go off alone. Some of the routes in North Devon and West Dorset are amazing. Some are not for the faint hearted also.

The Tramper will pretty much go up or over any terrain, even really soft sand, mud, tree roots and very steep inclines. It's basically the Land Rover of Mobility scooters. Super fun.

More here.

Thanks for the info, not used a Tramper but after 25 yrs of no hill walking ( heart won't keep up) a good friend introduced me to the Terrain Hopper on the Yorkshire Dales. "Access the Dales" have several of these and Trampers available to borrow from their hubs placed around the Dales at the various Hubs. One can find out more and book at access-the-dales.com. So it you can't 'get out there' or know a person who misses hill walking it is well worth having a go. There are some with joystick control for those who may not be able to steer with handle bars.

It’s a shame there isn’t a UK map with all the hire locations. Some of the larger National Trust properties seem to have them and we found them at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. There is also a list of sites on the tramper website: https://www.tramper.co.uk/Press/561247bea00324f026e278d3. It seems to be an expanding network. We do now book in advance to ensure they have one available.

Useful link thanks. There is a map on the original link I posted for countryside mobility but it's just Midlands, Wales and southwest.

Bottom of the page here https://www.countrysidemobility.org/

Did Dartington Hall Dear Park today near Totnes and going to do Saltram estate near Plymouth tomorrow. I think that will be the 18th Tramper trip on this year's tour so far.

Without doubt though the best routes are Woolacombe and Heddon Valley in North Devon and Golden cap in west Dorset.

When my hip was getting bad I 'had' to use off road mobility scooters several times, I hated it, OK it was good that I could get about, but I just felt 'out of sorts', was I glad to get my mobility back again.
Meanwhile, this is what you call dedication, to walking the dogs.

Thanks for the links. They don’t advertise these very well so the posts are useful. We only found out from a friend about this type of mobility scooter. They told me about Trampers as they have a friend with a Boma https://allterrain.equaladventure.org/. Serious money but they almost got it up Skiddaw but for the battery running out. I believe they have now upgraded to Lithium batteries.

Our dog goes hysterical if he is behind the Tramper. In front, he thankfully just about copes!

Good lord. I thought the Trampers were pricey starting at £6500 but those are £15-£19k!

They look good but I don't like the handle bars sticks thing.

You think anything for motorhomes is pricey, just put mobility on something. Been a rip off for years

There are cheaper off-roaders available Barry;

I'd rather have one of these Rob. 😎
Michelle might have a job keeping up mind.

Now that's a proper off roader Barry!

My new Honda will do a bit of off road but nothing serious, same as me really.

So will the Vstrom XT apparently but bollocks to that. Well for me at least. It's just too feckin big and powerful I reckon for scrambling about fields and stuff I think. I guarantee it would end in tears and the end of what's left of my motorcycling years if I took it scrambling.

They need to be light with knobbly tyres surely.
