How hairy is the "Old Brenner pass"

Going towards Innsbruck.
2 choices.
1 the toll road and the tunnel.

Or
The pass maybe toll road as well.
How "hairy" is the pass.
Is it a proper 2 lane highway.
Happy to deal with multiple hairpins.
Eg today we drove from San Martino over the Rolle pass..to Val Gardena near Bolzano..all vg.
Thankz

Hi,

Three choices = the toll free route.

We have travelled over the Brenner, in both directions toll free, for well over 20 years visiting the family Italian connection.

Absolutely no problems and with several overnight stops along the way, if needed. 46.998678, 11.502280

Thanks Dezi

Very helpful.
From there we will go over th Fernpass.
So I can avoid all tolls and tunnels by setting my satnav accordingly.
We are at Chiusa for 2 nights and will also not use the autostrada to go to Brenner.
The info on overnights is good.
I also see a spot at Gschnitz on the L10 from Steinach

ALL very good

The camper/sosta in Chiusa worked out at nearly 20 euros
16 for the camp and 3 for tourist tax.
We had already decided to move on and thanks to Dezi we chose the SS12 in Italy
Then the B182 (Brenner pass) in Austria.
This was in fact a valley pass very very easy.

Google Maps

No tolls or Bremnerpass fees
We then followed the L10 Minor road (but bus route) from Steinach am Brenner to Gschnitz and just beyond
Carpark with amazing views 3Euros
