We headed for Torbay a few months ago and I am glad we had a car with us as well. The place is alive with parking meters and some strange pricing. £1.10 per hour with no change given. £1.05 per hour did not except 50p pieces and no change given. A lot of private car parks and they are using number plate recognition and ticket machine with number plate entry so if you overstay your paid for time it's £100 fine. We found another one near Portsmouth like this last year. The Car Park overlooks the Solent and you can watch the sailing BUT they charge you as they know when you went in and how long you have been there. Council car park with bollards that rise out of the road and stop you leaving if you have not paid.
There were a number of No Camping / Sleeping signs and if you want to stay overnight you have to get permission from Torbay Council but it does not say who you have to speak to or how long you can stay. Few signs with Motorhomes banned from 10pm to 8am.
The only thing Torbay Council have not worked out yet is how to CHARGE you when you stop at Traffic Lights.
Would we go back. NO. Norfolk is nicer apart from our favourite beach at Brancaster where they now want £4.50 for two hours parking. Starts getting expensive to take the dog on the beach.
