Hi
I have an Avtex tv which is great but when I connect a Sky HD box to it and play films, the sound volume is really low even at max volume. Can anyone tell me why?
Thank Alshymer

I'm not up to speed on latest sky boxes, but check the output volume on sky box.

There seem to be a lot of people suffering from this problem if you look at the Sky community forums.

Try Googling 'volume low when connected to sky HD box' for details.

Use one of these car audio boosters.

I have a Humax receiver and a JVC TV both have separate remotes both have to be used to increase volume I leave TV at 50% and control volume with Humax remote

Have you tried going into the Sky box Setup menu? My Freesat box has a setting there for the maximum volume. The volume control on the handset only adjusts the volume level between zero and the preset maximum. Perhaps your Sky digibox has similar? Just a thought...

Not the same TV or setup but mine has a very tinny sound and is not very loud, so wired up a twin set of head phones hard wiring the cables and routing them the through the cupboards sound is lot better and we can have the sound as high as we want without disturbing other people.

I run a cable from the box hidden away through cupboards and trim, it then goes to the aux in on the radio so that I get the sound on all four speakers.

If you go into the menu on sky boxes you can change your audio type, (stereo/mono/dolby etc.) try changing the settings to see if it improves, I presume you are watching on HDMI

I have exactly the same problem with the Amazon firestick. Tried everything but no joy so use bluetooth to Bose mini speaker. If we watch tv through the aerial it's fine. Maybe it's a problem with the hdmi ports ?

Thanks for that. Maybe you ha e a newer model Avtex than we do as I don’t see any way of using Bluetooth from my 187DRS.

Thanks for all your replies.
On further investigation, I find that it is really only the movie channels on Sky that the volume is really low on,
Any comments?
Thanks
Alsymer

You could try reading This , it is a known problem with Sky Movies
Ah! the same problem often found with adverts! -- where you set the volume up for programme content and then come the ads, at double the volume or more :(

There is a solution; it's called compression/limiting. However, it's normally expensive overkill just to watch some TV! That said, you can do it for free if you process the sound in a free DAW (digital audio workshop -- or music production software) on your computer to add compression and limiting but it's a lot of faff and it might be better to get some rechargeable active speakers (and live with the loud effects in movies).
