I have in Portugal some land now 7.30 am i get a phone call from my neighbor asking me if i have given the key to the land to friends with motorhomes.
Because there are two park up and the gate is unlocked, my neighbor has one and i have the other key, and he always locks up when he has finished taken his goats there when he went to look the chain had gone so he ask me if it was ok to let the goats in, I called the police and they said it,s private land they cant move them without the owner making a complaint at the station being fiesta week here i cant leave the business and go there so my neighbor and his two boy are going down with the tractor and tow them out, And put a new chain on the gate and try to find the signs that have gone.

I hope your neighbours get sorted with no bother

But I cant help myself asking is it any different to wildcampers parking up in the UK on land and ignoring signs requesting otherwise eg Ribble Valley ?

What I have seen in the uk.

On a large site bristol street motors gypsys went in and set a fire alight.

Fire brigade arrive, cut the lock off, went in and put the fire out.

Fire brigade left and of course the lock was cut off.

A couple of minutes later gypsies go through the unlocked gate and they get stay two months before they can get them out, because the gate was open.

That surprises me, BSM are part of Vertu PLC and I know 3 of the directors , We had a similar situation in Leeds, (reg Vardy days) and I know for a fact they know elders in the traveller community that will soon have them on their way.

With travellers often it is more who you know than what you know

Perhaps they bought a vehicle there. Just waiting for some warranty work
to be carried out. Customers have to resort desperate measures sometimes.:)

This Bristol Street Motors site was in London NW9 sold cars and lorries.

They closed the site, gypsies moved in, then it became a Hombase diy store, that has now gone and it is in the process of becoming houses and flats.

PS Customers have to resort desperate measures sometimes yes I bought a nearly new car from them and they could not get the brakes right so they bought it back.

Perhaps they moved on to your land to convert their motorhomes into ambulances ambulance.jpg

They got to much to do before they convert anything there out now on the road trying to put his front wing back on when they towed him out he was not very happy and keep putting his brakes on and slid and hit a tree side on,

Bloody motorhomers :mad2: scum of the earth :mad2: waste of space :mad2: wouldn`t piss on them if they was on fire :mad2:

Good contact to have . Were the directors families travellers previously ?

With our experience of dealing with Vertu...
The directors probably still are Gipsies.
And the Mechanics are probably rustling cattle,in Texas..

Possibly not,but I don't think there are many who would remove a lock and chain.

If you still have an issue and are realistic email Robert Forrester he is MD and I would be amazed if he doesn't help I never found him less than helpful

No but rubbed shoulders with those that are !!! have you realistically any idea in motorhome world the number of companies that are ran by travellers ? or Travelling stock ? they can apply a bit of influence for sure Alfie Best, Laings, Hill Brothers , John Hoey

I would expect nothing less. A nearly new car with a brake fault that they
couldn't fix, could have had dire consequences for them should the worst
have occurred. Hope they didn't make you sweat for a justified remedy.

I am sorry to say they were hard work.

The brakes used to snatch to the left or to the right at the last moment.

It took an experts report to provide evidence to get them to buy it back.

It was a genuine question . Don't know an awful lot about travellers but have always assumed they were a closed shop

Sorry if it seemed an abrupt answer.

Vertus two main people are Robert Forrester MD and OPs director Colin Kent previous to Vertu were directors at Reg Vardy Plc which was bought by Trevor Finn of Pendragon (stratstone and Evans Halshaw ) EH MD Gary Armstrong I worked with a long time ago.

As you can see it is an incestuous industry and Sir Peter Vardy is a well known philanthropist so due in the main to his charity work new a lot of the travelling elders particularly in the North East naturally they know others so if there was bother there were good contact,

Many dealers will work with caravan dealers to place cars on display etc marketing we often did it with Bawtry Caravans

One of the big players is Glossop Caravans that is ran by the Lang family they are travelling stock what people aren't aware of is they supply lots of statics to local authorities who rent to the travelling community ( how I know them we replaced windows) A lot of the leisure caravan parks are ran by travelling stock too eg Wyldecrest Parks is ran by Alfie Best , Hill Brothers own a lot of sites around the Wirral Southport and a few retirement parks when they move old stock on the Knowles family Humber caravans near Goole and their relatives in Clacton

Foremans Bridge Caravan Park near Kings Lynn is ran by John Hoey albeit he has a site he does a lot of trade to trade stuff,,,He is quite a nice fella and his lad daft as a brush ! but a nice lad.

As you can see should a garage have an issue the network of contacts in the trade includes a lot of well connected travellers so people soon wind their necks in. that's before the amount of cars sold to them Nissan Navarras Chrysler 300C

They are not that good at social integration as a rule having said that Nick Laing at Glossop and my old boss often disappear to Benidorm for a weekend not that they see more than the bottom of a pint glass Glossop also have a box at Old Trafford which can be useful !! especially with an old boss who is a ardent Leeds fan

I suppose really its all networking which can be useful
