Cleddon falls.jpgSL730038.jpgTook 'van to south Wales this weekend to visit family and parked up overnight in one of the two wild camping locations near where my parents live. The reason I don't park next to their house is because the van is too tall to go down the lane to their cottage, we have tried it once in order to pick up a dressing table to take back home, but my wife had to walk in front of the van as we were driving down the lane with a big stick moving branches that were threatening to scrape or get caught on the 'van.

So, we parked up and had a quiet night and in the morning we heard one or two vehicles arriving and leaving, all of them taking their dogs for a walk in the woods right by the car park. I happened to look out of the door to our 'van after one car had arrived and had to take a picture.
How single minded can a person be?
As you can see from the car park there was plenty of room for him to park thoughtfully, but no! he parked straight in front of the 'van.
We were late getting our breakfast so it caused us no problem as we were in no rush to leave.
I have also included a photo of the 'van in tha car park before he had arrived, just to show you the spaces he could have parked.SL730035.jpgSL730037.jpg
After he had left I had a look to see if I could have got out of the car park, but because I had backed right up to a bank, I would not have been able to reverse and I would not have been able to get round the car to the exit forward!

i agree, if you thought tha could pull around it and get out, it means anyone else could ;-)

:scared: don't take up driving for a living you'll starve :rolleyes2::lol-053:

SL730038.jpgok, you had to be there to appreciate that although I could have got the nose of the van around the front of the car, I could not then have negociated the sharp left turn required to exit the car park without taking out the front of the car! Also if you look closely you will notice that the area around the car park is soft mud, hence the reason for me to reverse into a parking space, (van is front wheel drive).
I used to drive in the army and managed to eat quite well thank you Arthur!

Lotty, we wild camped in a car park a little further up the road from the CR Cleddon (Monmouthshire) POI, the first night and stayed in the Cleddon car park the second night.

Some people don't realise about the limited turning circle and manoeuvrability a large vehicle has because they have never driven anything bigger than a medium size family car. They assume because they could get out in their vehicle from your space you can do the same. To be fair I think it takes experience driving bigger vehicles to be fully aware of the difficulties you can cause.

One of our first overnighters was in the car park by the Marina in Whitby.

We did not intend to, we parked in a quiet area and were surrounded by cars after a while. It got too late to move on so we stayed there and had a quiet night.

I learned a valuable lesson for the future though.

We were late getting our breakfast so it caused us no problem as we were in no rush to leave.

So what was the problem again? Sorry but i just don't hold with complaining about something that hasn't actually caused an issue. Yes it could have done but life is full of what if's and you could waste hours of your life worrying about them needlessly.

This is the reason why M/H's will take two spaces up in some carparks., because you can't get out when 2 idiots park too close on both sides. Even when I park as far away from the supermarket doorway as possible I still end up with cars both side of me!

I asked a woman once why she parked next to me when there where obviously much more convenient spaces " If it gets busy:) I can still remember where I parked my car":)

And if I was a helicopter pilot I would have just flown her out of the stuation, but seeing as I did not and do not suppose to be either a pilot or an experienced 'motorhomer' I was in that situation ! :D

Next time just follow my example.

Last year in France I parked in a town next to the Lot River in a car park by several Boules courts. The car park was empty and nobody around. We were just passing through and took the bike off for a couple of hours to explore a hill top village intending to move on later.

On our return the whole place was packed with cars, the van totally hemmed in on all sides and a massive boules competition going on.

I just cracked out a case of Leffe, sat and watched the boules and got pissed.

I did not say it was a problem, did I?
I commented on the idiots thoughtless car parking positioning, read the post!
er...it wasn't your car was it?

I don't think Beemer sounds exactly worried...just having a (justified IMHO..) moan about a prat parking directly in front of Him when there's ACRES of free space about! Maybe the car-owner was a bit in-secure....like the people who plonk themselves down right on top on an otherwise almost empty beach!!!
