I thought this was a well constructed balanced and a worthwhile exercise.
It’s symptomatic of the type of pragmatism you will find in more rural parts of Scotland. The wardens did their jobs in a reasonable manner, avoiding unnecessary aggravation, and confrontation but got their their points across.
And I agree it’s important to remember why people head for the Hebrides, and therefore important that infrastructure management in no way interferes with the peacefulness which awaits anyone who visits these islands. The locals want to welcome people, and it’s important that those visiting respect the people who live there, their environment and their culture.
The number of visitors from abroad amounting to 42% was no surprise, when travelling up north and throughout Scotland, we Scot’s in motorhomes are probably less than 20% of those doing so.
Scotland has much to offer, and will do its best to accommodate those who wish to visit, regardless of how they do so. But right now Scotland is trying to get its head around what’s been happening in recent times, and what’s required to make sure that those who come here have a pleasant rewarding time.
