Oh happy days one of the first vehicles I drove was a Bedford with sliding doors. In the summer driving with the doors open and no seatbelt laws then, oh the joy
When I first started working for royal mail in the late eighties I drove a Leyland EA with sliding doors great in the summer used to drive it down the M1 to London with door open lovely breeze.
arrived in the Algarve after a long summer drive down with the sliding door open ,of course !
nasty sunburnt right arm , and blisters on my right leg below my shorts-oww!
i always fancied fitting out one of these 'Noddy' vans
i gather they were ''driver designed'', in that a load of delivery drivers filled in a questionnaire and the manufacturers read it ! so ,very roomy cab with sliding doors and big windows, and very easy access to the engine
i heard the Ariel Arrow was also designed after a reader survey, but i'll believe owt !
Not a Van as Such but this fellow on YouTube has been working on al Old Russian Zil and putting a Leyland Engine in it for a long time. He is interesting chap for off-grid info too.
