Solar Cooking - NO FUEL COSTS

Hi all,

:) Has anyone tried making/using a solar cooker (NO FUEL COSTS), especially on the continent where there is more sun. They are a bit 'Blue Peterish' although you can buy kits on the net - I think a DIY one would be more of a challenge though.

Apparently they were developed for 3rd World countries and, depending on how sunny it is, they can reach temperatures of 200c.

If you're interested either do a web search for solar cooking or try The Solar Cooking Archive (which has alot of useful info and other links). I love gadgets and really must give this a try sometime!

Happy travelling, GrandmaLiz

Hi GrandmaLiz,
welcome to the site. An interesting gadget:cool: thanks for the information.
Let us know when the first Casserole is ready, we will nip around with a bottle of wine:D

Happy Camping:)

If you look on google there's bound to be something about cooking your dinner on a landrover engine whilst you drive, I think a casserole took about 3 hours, should work on a camper engine too
