Just Had a snow storm that also included thunder and lighting what strange weather we are having in holland on sea.

Amazing isn't it - get a shedload of world leaders together for a global warming conference and next day it snows... :D

You know what's happened?, all the hot air they've created has blown their winter weather over us!!

It took me 1.5 hours for a 15 min journey to get to work today. A505 was partially blocked over the hills. It always gets blocked even with about 3 inches of snow as it is hilly and it always drifts off the fields.

I know I risk getting shot down in flames.....but have you noticed that according to forecast the snow has been in south east corner of England. Can you tell me why then I am sitting here just north of Dundee looking out at about 4 inches of snow. The A90 Dundee - Aberdeen dual carriageway was closed both ways for a 35 mile stretch from 10pm last night until 6am this morning beacuse of snow and ice......didn't hear that on news/weather etc etc

we all know that 'england' ends just north of watford according to the BBC. Anything west of reading is known as the 'west country'. The fact that Manchester is as big if not bigger never really registers with them either :)

BBC 5 live are moving to Manchester and they did mention the A505 on the travel so maybe things are looking up!

In Scotland we receive BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) national weather and national news as well as local BBC news and local BBC weather.

IMHO it is fair to expect a small mention of weather and road conditions nationally on the national news and national weather (small clue in the word "national") rather than the usual southern focus!

If you happen to be watching "English TV" who broadcasts it..EBC?:)

Tattie,

My only gripe with the Scots is that they did not invite the Geordies to come in with them when you got some independance.

You rotten b******s left us stuck with them English. :p

Next time you drive South, I will chuck bricks at your van. :D

we had that same kind of lightning here as well..looked like power lines were coming down as there was no sounds..

Backed out of my drive this morning at 6am, about an inch of snow, but hard ice underneath, slipped and slid off the side roads. The main roads were gritted so no problem, drove the 50 miles over the Pennines to work.
SO What are you soft lot down south complaining about, we used to get this every year (as I live above the snow line)
Learn to drive in snow, it can be fun. About time you got some, it builds character!

Everyone has there 15 minutes they reckon, here you go

It was cold this morning. Took me 10 minutes to get into the car. Van is frozen solid.

lincolnshire

Yesterday we went to visit the outlaws, one in the Lincolnshire Wolds and the other in Chapel. Had to turn round twice going through the wolds due to the state of the roads. No bl**dy grit put down on any of the roads. Main roads were a mess, 20 mph stuff and no chance of overtaking unless in a 4x4 or you have a wish for an accident. No wonder I go as little as possible.

When we finally got to both of them, I noticed that neither had ventured out of the houses due to the weather for days and thanked them for notifying us how bad the roads are.
