smashed lights...good luck story

I was careless enough to reverse into a lampost and smashed the three lights on the rear of my camper. yes I've got reversing sensors but it was early morning and they probably just hadn't woken up!! I will use the word 'lucky' quite a lot now because.. luckily I have a really hefty tow bar which took most of the damage. The tow bar caved in but, luckily, just missed the body of the 'van. So I went to my garage.. not the usual motorhome repair shop as this is a genius of a man who is a VW expert and has been looking after me for years. The rear corner assembly unit was cracked ( I know this because he told me!) .

So we rang round a few local dealers and body shop places who put us onto someone else and so on. I have an adria corel and was eventually told that yes we could order the part but it could take 6 weeks -6 months to arrive !!! whhaaaat?? and the gentleman was very polite and said 'but please dont keep calling me, I will let you know when it arrives.' Well this put my plan of going skiing truly on hold. so I shopped around and it seemed we could order the part but the person who takes the orders wont be in until monday.. or thursday.. or next tuesday...

The lampost was outside a friends house who built a kit car, I was telling him of the dilemma and he said try this site.. Europa car parts. What a gem of a company! I ordered some light covers, luckily the bulbs didnt break, they were the same size in diameter but it was pot luck whether they would match. Anyway, ordered them online, arrived the next day and hey , they were perfect! same size and no fiddling around with the electrics. Lucky too that the body of the assembly thingy was only a small crack and absolutely no way lets water in anywhere. Just got to get the tow bar straightened out now! and a visit to specsavers.

I've got a repair kit for rear light lenses from the pound shop which consists of a small sheet of translucent plastic in red or amber, that might repair lenses, if only temporarily.

www.europaspares.com maybe this site I've used them several times

yes this is the one! will have to remember the correct names in future.
I travelled to greece last year with my dog. I met up with my daughter in Zante and returned by ferry to Italy then stayed in France for the winter. I had various problems , none that I would have encountered in the UK. They were all fairly minor but had to be dealt with of course and it put my schoolgirl french to the test.. didnt learn phrases like.. my shower tray is blocked with hair colour.. or my water tank plug had perished.. hahaa! or greek for I need a petrol can... So I have some technical advice of getting stuff fixed, Wild camped all the way too.
