Small claims court

Noticed that a few of you seem to have a lot of faith in the small claims court to recover moneys.
Just to put things in perspective for those that have never used this system. We have put many claims through the SCC over the last 10 years due to running courier vans, which we no longer do, The courier business is famous for bad payers. We still have £6000 outstanding, which we will never recover, the bailiffs report usually says "we cant recover any goods of value, and all equipment and any vans, cars are leased so have prior claims against them"
You cant get blood out of a stone!!!!!!!!
E-Bay is a different story, we buy around £9000 of stock per year via E-Bay, and have around 10 (goods not arrived )or (goods not as described) disputes per year and having 100% feed back ourselves have won them all.
The only thing to watch on E-Bay is the seller trying to delay your complaint till the time limit for complaining has run out, we nowadays send 1 message with our complaint asking for it rectifying and if the responce is not within 24hours and not offering a solution, then the complaint goes in.
The modern way seems to be screw who you can and do anything to get away with it.
Its not my way of working, but I feel I am in a minority these days

Couldn't agree more Urbtaf.

Like the rest of our legal system, the small claims court is sadly lacking.

I got taken a few years back and it really wasn't worth the expense or hassle to try and recover the money.

County Court Bailiffs are no use whatsoever, I was in that industry for many years. There is always more than one way to skin a cat from Stautory Demands to banging on the door , charging orders, attachment of earnings or an order on thier bank account. The right firm will collect if all else fails but we used to take 40/50% on the very hard ones. Dont get upset, get even.:D

a friend of mine who is disabled and living on meagre benefits, purchased a static caravan for 22000 pounds with help from his family less than two years later due to surcumstances he sold it back to the site for 6500 pounds [a pittance] the caravan was sold shortly afterwards to new owners ,this was two years ago the site owner has never paid the 6500 owed to my friend .he has won two court cases against the site owner and still not recieved a penny he pays 50 pounds a month to his solisiter who fought the case and has been told it will cost more to take it further its disgusting and nobody in authority gives a toss . meanwhile mr caravan site owner is still running his multi million pound buisness it stinks . i hope he gets bowel cancer

If you want to pm me the details I will take a look at it for him, no charge unless he wants us to progress it further, and then we may do it on a by results only basis. Hope this helps. :D
