Hi
At the mo have a solid bed base which is uncomfortable Was thinking about using Ikea slatted base over it There is an upstand around existing does the slatted base have to be a loose fit ?
Anyone help me out with info please
Thanks Phil

I used cheap white wood from Wickes when building my van, the rear laths are fixed, while the front ones slide in and out. Still going strong and very comfortable.

Do you know what Debs.
I can sit and look at your Avatar for Hours.

That sounds SO weird doesn't it !!

Solid or slatted?

Why is your solid bed base uncomfortable?....It should not be. Just have a mattress of a thicness, and density on top to suit you, and remember that system is good for your back. Go to something which bends and you risk backache, and wish you never bothered........HOWEVER you should have a solid slatted bed base in caravan or motorhome for the simple reason a solid base does not breath, and in winter normally attracts damp and that means a wet bed, so solid slatting is the answer.........steve Bristol

if you get the slats from ikea they are fixed to webbing which can be fixed to the bed frame, allowing the slats to move with your weight on them

Some of the ones from Ikea are also adjustable for firmness via a plastic slidy thingymajig

Thank you folks I will look at Ikea in the New Year
Seasons Greetings to all

mattresses

If it uncomfortable now, it will be more so, with holes. Change Mattress and then do slats.
We put slats in across from seat to seat and put a inflatable gym work out mat that rolls up. under cushions first .and a matress toper. As we had them already.
