Skylight removal.

Can the skylight be removed without dismantling same with the mesh screen? It's minging and needs cleaning.

Sam the mesh screen just pops off at the wee hinges you can see just give it a good hard tug they are open ended.

I done mine a few week back actually took tho whole top part of from the spring loaded hinges took the whole thing apart and cleaned them.

Screens off and passed over to Mary Doll, whats involved in getting the skylight off Wully?

Getting them off is easy theres four short star screws inside bulged rounded hinged ends you can take them out and the whole outside bit comes off that’s the easy bit. If you look you will see four pre drilled holes you need long thin torque bit like a hex key get in there and remove the fixings that also separates the two plastic layers one is quite soft. I steeped them in a bath of soapy water for an hour then cleaned them. Just take your time quite fiddly

I have literally just finished doing exactly that this morning. The spring loaded retaining clips had broken off after 7 years. You need a size 10 torx on the side facing arms. Then lift the skylight off from outside. You need a 15 torx for splitting the inner and outer Perspex parts, easy enough.

If you wish to replace the spring loaded retaining lugs then leisureshopdirect supplied mine. You need the smaller size. They come with 4 in a packet and are an easy replacement.

I may do that Tomorrow and have it in the workshop just in case although it's showing scorchio for the week as long as I don't mention bbq and the Jim Clark.

Came up a treat with a soak in oxyclean.

Skylight ye can see through noo. Oxyclean did the trick again. Added bonus, i did not know there were blinds under the mesh.
