Sagart mention SIM4travel in his posting on my RVing in the US posting - thanks for the thought Sagart.

I bought and used a SIM4Travel card this summer but had some difficulties with it. Some folks, trying to call me from BT Landlines, couldn't get through at all. Some could ring and text me, others could ring but not text. Apart from the BT Landline I could not identify any other major offender as I couldn't be sure which carriers or mobile services my friends are using.

Has anyone else used SIM4Travel and what have been your experiences? Not too sure the savings I made were worth the hassle of using it.

Must admit I didn't use it a lot, so seemed to have no trouble (Nokia 9500). I'm told they are erratic in some phones, but I was mostly emailing using the American's generous provision of free Wi-fi

Hi we have had one since May this year, used it in Holland Germany Denmark France and now in the UK as we have no 02 signal where we live, so all calls on divert, and we have not had any problems with it, in fact very pleased with it.:D Bob.:)

Same countries which we were using it in, which is interesting. For one period it wouldn't work at all in The Netherlands, till I eventually rang them up. They said they were having problems in Holland and that service would be resumed within 24 hours and in fairness it was.

Other than that I never seemed to have difficulty ringing out, it was those who were trying to call or text me from the UK (using various suppliers) who had the problems.

Hi,Sim4travel they have changed their terms and conditions::confused:

You are now charged 39p each day you use it (even for incoming calls) and £2 / month if you don't use it for 90 days.

Looks like its back to the drawing board, and find a better deal. Bob.

MMmmmm that's not good  So that will be me out too on both counts.

So if you find a better solution then do let us know. I shan't be going abroad again till around next April so plenty of time to do some research.

We go January  we will have to see what we come up with. :D Bob.
