We had a dealer come to check the van and he pointed out that the window in side of the van is letting in water (we were not aware of this) so it needs to be sealed. I have just checked about sikaflex is ok to use?

SIKA SIKAFLEX EBT+ ALL-WEATHER SEALANT WHITE 300ML

Safe as houses guys. EBT stands for Elastic Bonding Technology, in other words it can stand being on a vehicle which twists and turns, I use it for all my joints (on the van that is) and as a bonus, it is about half the cost of 522
Good luck xx

Check it’s not a seal issue, mine had a leak and it was a seal not seated properly.

Thank you, also do we take old seal off first? or can we just apply new seal. The dealer said it needed resealing he showed how van bowed slightly where the window is, again we did not notice.

Are you saying that the van has damp in the panel?

I have used this on my 'van a number of times and it's excellent.

It's very flexible and UV resistant. It can be used as a sealant or an adhesive.

Do not use the 512 etc type. They are intended for permanent bonding.

Yes, apparently the side is very very slightly bowed under the window which shows the damp his damp tool did not pick it up because of the cloth panel inside. He did seem a genuine bloke unlike the one the previous week, who did not pick up on this damp but ooh and ahad a lot about the damp we have had sorted and offered £5000 for the van.

Always best to remove the window, clean off the old stuff on window and van, Chemically clean is best, but can't advise which is best to use.

Be very careful Gina, motorhome prices are at a premium at the moment, he is looking to knock the price down.

I think , Where else have they cut corners if swirty swirty used.- ie what other temp fixes has that van had and left to be permanent

I'd tell him to do one then, 22 isn't that old it depends on the van etc but 15 would be low.

Chuck some pictures up and get some valuations from the forums.

Sikaflex. The best thing since sliced bread.
Although sliced bread tastes so much nicer. Never wanted to try Sikaflex and marmalade. Toasted or not.😳

I'd buy a cheap damp meter too, but I'm sure I read somewhere that you can use a multimeter too.

I just had a quick try in the house, set meter to ohms, which is the Omega symbol or horse shoe (ish ) shape, it may show 1 when testing, my tongue gave varying but quite high numbers, dry cardboard gave zero, a recently water plant was 70-90

Not scientific but gives a clue, if you get anything at all it shows it has moisture, but most things will register some moisture, if you see above 100 it is damp I think, I do have a moisture meter, but it gives vastly varying results.
