After some advice. I am going to replace the aging Dometic Fridge vents on my Sprinter. The new ones dont come with any solid gaskets so I got some Sikaflex 512. The instructions call for a bead thickness of no less than 2mm and to use spacers to achieve this. Am I correct in thinking that I just apply a thicker bead, tighten the screws until the outer vent part touches the spacers and leave to dry (wiping off excess of course). Do you give the screws an extra nip when all is dry? Or leave as is. Cheers.

Thanks for halting my mistake. I'll save that for another job.

Well still non the wiser having used the sikaflex search. All described as adhesives. Looks like Bathroom sealer for the job then. Or upvc window sealant.

Most car spares outlets will have 'liquid gasket', comes in a tube which does the job but can be dismantled if needs be at a future date. Best deal on eBay today https://tinyurl.com/y5c9h4zf. half the price of Sikaflex (wonderful stuff but not for this job) and the tube will probably last the rest of your days!

I use Sikaflex EBT which is perfect for many tasks on the 'van.

It's a sealant and adhesive, flexible, non-permanent and available in clear, white and black.

Screwfix stock it.

As advised above do not use silicon sealant. It's hopeless.
