Showering in Europe

Hi all,

we are off to France on Wednesday; our first time abroad in the camper :fun:. We do not have a shower on-board and plan on using a mix of beach showers, motorway services and hopefully the municipal sites will let us use their showers for a small fee without us having to stay there. I was wondering if these seem practical solutions to our no shower on van issue and if anyone has any other ideas. I am not somebody who needs to shower everyday but my hair does seem to go a bit like a birds nest after a few days

B&Q are doing the portable outdoor solar showers for £1 I think if there are any left.

Also I take a garden hand held sprinkler to attach to a tap hose (only if the weather is warm enough)

We're in the south of France at the moment & there's no problem finding showers to use for free. We've got one of the solar showers but it gets too hot.

A saucepan with warm water and a tin mug to scoop water is always good standby "mandi" shower. Dont need to hang it up.

I used mandis throughout SE Asia without problems - always handy to have some sort of shower screen to stop the ogglers.

We used the same technique one time when the water pump/electric taps in the shower failed, just filled the sink and used a tin mig to scoop water for the shower.

I have seen Garden sprays used as showers in the past, you know the type, Killersprays I think they are called, you fill them with liquid and pump a plunger to pressurise them, they come with a long hose and spray gun attached.:fun:

hi ,dont waste your money on a solar shower . wait till you get to france buy 5litre of wine in a plastic barrel drink or tip the wine into emty lemonade bottles . fill the barrel just leave it out in the sun or on the dash board . gets lovely and warm. you could just use lemonade bottles full of water left on the dashboard . but its more fun drinking the wine first. tango bottles used to be good as they were black.
but a good strip wash is as good as a shower .
i do have a killaspray shower . you just have to get the shower atachment. riemo sell them with a shower tray and bag you climb into . were very common years ago. now its all mod cons . we even have washing machines now ask vindyboy sure he as seen our washing day spinners, mangels ,we carry it all. cheers alan.

Thanks for all the replies, seeing as they were a £1 we decided to get the solar shower and its much better than I expected. All the money we save on not having to use campsites and driving distances to beach showers can go on wine etc .
