Just saw this on MMM and I reckon this is a great idea for Motorhomes with limited water supply. Instead of fiddling with the shower control each time you switch it on and off you simply hit the switch. This means when someone else uses the shower all they have to do is press the on switch. No more readjustment using precious water. Worth considering.

Our very first van had one of these. We bought it second hand about 20 years ago.

I wonder why it hasn't remained a popular feature.

Our van, like many others has a very similar 'switch', due to the showerhead doubling as a basin tap it has a locked position, and when showering you slide the 'switch' to sprung position.

Are the threads standard sizes though?
Someone on OAL needed an adaptor when they tried using a 'standard' shower hose in a motorhome, I suspect if you have a dedicated shower hose it might well be standard size, but you would need to check.

Available as just a shut off valve if you don't want to replace the full head too ...

We got one of those and I think it reduces the flow of water when open as the water pump pulses when using it, the pump is fine on other outlets.

Both my vans have Muslim shattafs for the showers, which have thermostatic controls the original heads were plastic and poor quality so I replaced them with these:

We have been using one for years and they save a load of water. As far as the pulsing pump goes you will likely find the shower plate holes are much finer. Depending on area water type if you do not empty the head after use the plate holes can easily get blocked.
