I had a letter from Dundee City Council threatening all sorts of wonderous things for £3.14... I had mistakenly underpaid the council tax and this was the snot-a-gram for that.

having worked previously in a collections team I reckoned auto letter, I'll sort it next month and I paid £200 on the first of the follwoing month.

Low-and-behold a couple of days later, snot-o-gram mark 2 telling me the full balance of my council tax was now due and a 10% you've been a bad lad levy had been added.

I called them up and right enough, the account was in full default as they put it and a warrant had been issued to allow them to arrest my wages etc, when I suggested he should check the ledger turns out the account was 86p ahead so he, rather kindly I thought, agreed to remove the warrant although he declined my offer to allow them to raise a cheque for MY 86p... git.
