Looks like you can’t get a van onto Lundy - anyone know of any other obscure Islands where you can?

Two years ago went to Orkney in the van - great trip. Visited some very off beat places including Hoy.

Plenty more of Scotland to explore including the Shetlands but was wondering what English islands you can get to in a camper…

My island, Walney. Lots of open spaces, stunning sunsets, two nature reserves and a huge seal colony. Piel Island with its own 'King",pub and castle. Can't take a van there but a foot ferry runs from Roa Island, which is accessible via a causeway. Foulney Island which is a walk from the causeway and is an important nesting area for many seabirds, notably Terns.

There you go, four easy hits in one small area. If you need water and a tip off give us a shout.

Cheers

Scotland has the monopoly on islands I reckon. Went to the Isle of Wight once for Christmas for a week in the van. Wouldn't rush back. It was ok but I never felt like I was on an island. It just felt like the mainland to me. Large towns, traffic wardens (got a ticket 😁) lots and lots of people.

Islands should be sparsely populated and no double yellow lines otherwise they are not a proper island. 🤠 oh and you have to get there on a Ferry. If there is a bridge it's not a proper island.

Couldn't agree more Barry - but an Island must have a pub. Perhaps you could buy an Island and build a pub on it and restrict visitors to 20 maybe?

We could call it Barry Island.

Cracking area Harold, discovered it a few years back and was smitten by it's charm and of course the cracking cafe on Roa Island.
One thing I didn't like though was the so called 'ferry' to Piel Island, nowt but a wooden bucket designed to get drenched in! A sailor I am not!

Isle of Sheppy. Couple of free aires, although with minimum stays.
HMP's Elmley and Stanford.
Both great for getting away from 'er in doors. I've that they can also give a new meaning to romance

Nowt wrong with three inch of freeboard. Soft bugger. When I were a lad…
