I have been reading Google about the Scottish midges, seems August is a bad time to be there because of them, hey ho we shall see, we want to see the Falkirk Wheel and understand we may be able to overnight there, is that right ? Please

You can overnight there for a fee. There's also a quite unattractive campsite nearby. The Kelpies are not far away and the overnight parking is free there though apparently some boy racers are frequent visitors. It's unlikely that midges would be a problem there. A great thing about being in a motorhome is that you can escape midges by simply moving if you find them to be a pest in a location.

We also plan to see the transporter bridge at middlesbrough on the way up , any info on that anyone please.

Your to late isn't it in Arizona now ?
Not according to Google there is a 2018 programme advertised ?I have just noticed that W C has a meet at Druridge bay country park nearby, it is full according to the forum page, but I may just call in and have a look depending on dates .
