Selling a motorhome through a broker

I'm looking to sell my Autotrail Apache fairly urgently but have had little luck so far - maybe it's a bit early in the year. I've had the usual enquiries from brokers who want to sell my van for me and I know nothing about any of them. Has anyone had successful dealings with a broker who sold their van quickly and effectively, because if I'm forced to go down that road I would want to go for a firm with a track record that someone can recommend? Any advice would be welcome.

If you want to sell quick and donate someone else several thousand go for it but be carefull, they tie you up and even if you take it aback from them because they cant sell it, you cant sell it to anyone without paying them something even if its your next door neighbour that nought t. Dont like them as they sell at top end, have no liabilities and are just plain parasites

Hardly parasites, they are offering a service and expect payment for this, do you ever work for free ? their terms are no doubt made clear before one signs up to sell via them so if one does not like the terms one walks away. I have heard however unscrupulous brokers who try and fleece the owner of their money once the sale has been completed but there are crooks in all walks of life so one needs to be aware of this, the OP could try the we buy any car people they buy Motorhomes too but offer such low prices that they are not worth the bother unless one is really desperate, even E bay is not without risk, plenty of scammers on there too.

I bought one through a mansfield brokers 4 years ago. It was faulty and i didnt get any backup from them at all, they blamed the seller and i lost out on £3k. The seller contacted me later on a parking ticket issue and he told me the broker washed it, advertised it on e bay, sold it to me, took £3500 commission and even sent hiom a bill for some carpet bits they replaced for him which turned out to be swatches. Funnily i have worked all my life for real money, never needed to work for free but never ripped anyone off. Horses and courses. Brokers dont have the service or same backups as dealers with showrooms. brokers have yards, pressure washers and time share salesmen. Rant over. lol.

If you’re thinking of going down the broker route. Why not try this first get you’re lowest price you’re willing too accept then deduct brokerage fees and all there other costs find that figure then advertise at that price you’re self on a couple of mh forums you’ll sell within days without the hassle and pressure of brokers.

One broker I am aware of is Bundesvan. he specialised in Hymers new and old but does deal in other makes, I knew 2 people, [friends ] who worked for him at shows and collection and delivery of vans from Europe mainland, they always spoke highly of the owner [Nick ] I have never dealt with him direct , but would suggest the OP might like to have a chat with him.

Nick sold Bundesvan some time ago, but I'm prepared to speak highly of Bob and Sue, who bought the company. :)

There are two pages of Autotrail Apache motorhomes on Autotrader, but all are Trade sellers. So You must have listed it under some other make and model.

Feel a bit of a idiot now. I had put the ad in Autotrader but it was listed as Fiat Ducato, not Autotrail Apache! I have now corrected the error and it should be appearing in the Motorhomes section as a private seller in LA2 0AD. Many thanks for your input on this - no wonder I wasn't getting any enquiries.

Well I never knew that , I used to see them at the Shepton Mallet show but have not been to that for several years, must try and contact the couple I know who worked for him at the shows , time flies by when you are not paying attention doesn't it.
