Someone somewhere must have the answer. In my iveco daily self build I currently have one driver seat on a swivel and one single passenger seat on a swivel. I want to take the single passenger seat out and put in a nice double seat. Preferably that swivels for my wife and daughter. All the main manufacturers I've dealt with only do singles
Someone said to me about using a double rear swivel seat from a Nissan Elgrand. Has anyone done this

You need to start from basics, get a seat with built in seat belts, and then a fixing for the seat that makes the mot inspector happy.

Now Trevsoda could be the man to ask, I think he finds a little dab of semtex behind the ears always encourages an easy pass.

The centre seat in a Mitsubishi Delica L400 8 seater is a two seater that swivels - seat belts are attached to the seat.
Not a very good pic - but in this wiew its rotated 180 degrees.

This is a lovely looking seat. Looks a bit wide fornanfront passenger and none on eBay
Great idea though and I’ll look more into it

Thanks

You may have probs with mountings which pas veh construction and use regs,if built after2006 the under floor plates must comply to a certain size, bolts to must be correct and strength,i went through all this when i built my wagon.
Also all front belts must restrain folk from being able to strike the dash or screen if retro fitted.
Some may or could ask for a 12 ton pull test which requires the screen removed to do so,best you go inquire first.

So what seats did you end up fitting in yours in the end. I've been looking at minibus seats but they don't swivel.
It was much simpler when just the wife and I went adventuring

we got our camper from campers scotland in grangemouth its an toyata alphard
we used to have a delicia years ago campers scotland are now converting delicia,s into campervans
they may have swivels seats available when we picked up the camper there was piles os seats left outside
from the conversions not sure how many delicia,s they done but worth a try

I fitted renault in front and taxi bus type in rear mounted to a modified either ford or toyota swival, the seats had belts built in,all built on a frame which is under plated across chassis with high tensile bolts.

It needs to be one from a 8 seater not 7 seater.

mitzybits in rotherham break up delicas all the time and a good firm to deal with.

Again, on Japanese conversions, they often use a double seat where it can act as forward or rear facing, by a very clever system where the squab becomes the backrest, and vice versa (unlike the 'trolley' bus type where only the backrest flips.)
This negates the need for any swivel mechanism, and would be easier to mount.
Where you would get one from I dont know!!
I have one in mine, so could give dimensions if you need.

I phoned these guys and they were super helpful. They had something but I’d of had to buy the whole interior. Looks like I might be getting half leather mini bus seats now. Sadly could involve a 6 hour each way journey to get them though.

94cm is not really wide enough for two people to sit in. That's narrower than economy airline seat width, I think. So it may be tricky finding a double seat that narrow
I’m on the verge of getting a iveco daily double minibus seat and it’s 88cm. Near in mind the iveco daily is only 175cm wide anyway

A year later and im no nearer to finding a workable double swivel seat solution. the seat i bought i need to change as its the wrong mountings and will fail its next mot. A suitable swivel base I can not find anywhere. surely someone has managed to do this safely and legally

Best I can suggest is the following:
Putting new mounts in the van floor with suitable spreader plates underneath might easier than adapting the swivel plate mount? The position of the mounts will of course be the same as the seat, so you could get a seat first, drop it into place and see how you could make mounts for it before investing in the plate.

The Swivel base in the link is around £300; a VW Double Seat you can usually pick up for very little money or for free (I remember the conversion company around 10 miles from me had a skip load of VW double seats as no one wants them. I bet other converters are in a similar position).

Just a note picking up on the comment from Hairydog about the seat width... the VW Double Seat width is more like a 1 & 1/2 seat (pretty typical for van front doubles though) and 2 people who are not pretty small would find it uncomfortable after a very short time. First thing I did on all my VWs (T4, T5 and LT) was to dump the front double and fit a single, but if you must have a double, then you just have to live with the narrowness.

SOUNDS GREAT , technically probably beyond me. I used to have a single swivel and it was great. However a 6ft wife and 5,10 daughter mean i have to have a double. im still scouring. I found one but its not certified. my mechanic friend said it has to go into the original mountings to pass an mot. Above all I want my family to be safe.
