Just had a great 5 days wilding in Scotland which was fantastic.

Now on way home via Northumberland. Thursday night stayed at the Cheswick POI which was great just a short walk to the beach through the dunes. After visiting Holy Island and then Bamburgh Castle on Friday we headed for the Seahouses LR POI. When we arrived there were no overnighting signs there so did not stay. The signs were white writing on blue background but no other writing at all and wonder if they are enforceable. Unfortunately I did not take a photo of the sign otherwise would have posted it. We moved on anyway and found a great spot from the POI list at Alnwick in a lay-by below the Castle. There were a number of boy racer types there till about 22.00 but they weren't too noisy and were well behaved.

I adored Bamburgh Castle - the first glimpse you have of it, is literally breath-taking because it is so enormous. It is very high above the beach and uniquely magnificent. Inside is as brilliant as it is huge outside. Inside the castle walls you can find not only interesting internal rooms, lovely artifacts, paintings, ceramics and architecture, you can find 1000 year old remains of earlier parts of the castle, cannons for kids to play on, battlements, an art gallery, stocks, a throne, and a large lawned areas for picnics, with lots of historic games for children and grown-ups to play, an archelogical dig, a museum and views of the wonderful golden sanded coast. Its good value for what you can do in a day there.

The Bamburgh Castle restaurant is very good value and offers wholesome food including healthy options.

Sadly on balance i found Northumberland one of the most anti motor home counties i have travelled in. There seems to be an assumption by many local folks that all motor homers are irresponsible and mean and dirty. I did find a couple of small car parks near to Flodden Field monument though for overnighting (i don't know how to do coordinates but i'm sure someone can find them on google.)

Without reference to a Traffic Regulation Order or Bylaw, such signs are advisory and not enforceable.
