I had but never used my Taylormade exterior screen covers on my recently sold C class as I managed with the interior factory fitted blinds.
I have Since changed vehicles to a PVC which came with silver interior screen covers, the type that use suction cups to hold onto the windscreen and side windows.
Now the cold nights are upon us I have found the windscreen is soaking wet on a morning, condensation literally running down the windscreen.
I use my Karcher window vac on a morning but would rather prevent the condensation. Would using exterior screens stop or reduce the interior condensation ?

Had the same problem until I bought exterior screen [off Rockape], no condensation at all now. Easier and less fussy to fit than the interior ones too.

Very very simple answer to that one ............ Yes

You also don`t get them damned sucker markers on the windscreen and side windows which drove me crazy :mad2:

I used to worry where all that condensation was running to and the damage it was doing as it came down the windscreen and vanished behind the dash :scared:

With the screens on there is now no condensation at all and the cab area is warmer as well

Another vote for externals when it's a bit chilly - never any condensation.

Pat

True that the exterior screens are very good but the only downside is that it is far more obvious that there is some one in the van when wilding. If you have to stop in a more urban setting exterior screens screen that there is some one inside

With internal screens you have two problems:

1. There's no circulation of air across the glass surface to help prevent moisture condensing.
2. By insulating the screen from the vehicle's interior warmth the glass gets even colder thus increasing condensation.

Internal screens are hopeless in my opinion.

With external screens both these problems go away, and you're left with a nice dry screen :D

most definitely.

Many thanks to everyone, more money to lavish on my motorhome when I get home on Tuesday unless I drop enough hints to my son and I may get an early Xmas present lol.

Only bad thing if you have to leave in a hurry or your being robbed or harassed having to get out and take the screen covers off could put you in danger.
I prefer to be able to make a quick exit if need be. Of course on a campsite one should be ok using them

WT... are you an emergency get away driver for bad people? :) I cannot imagine a scenario where we've parked in such a dodgy place that we need that level of abruptness - I'd never be able to sleep anyway!

I use my PVC and my previous c class at least every 2 weeks over the winter and have never had any problems with damp.

I prefer internal screens. No need to go outside in sometimes awful weather to fit them, and they pack away nice and dry having been inside overnight.
Quick Kercher in the morning, much quicker than being outside in the rain to remove soggy blinds.
Seems Im in the minority in liking them, but I really don't understand why. Could be that having come to motorhoming from tents I fully appreciate not having to go outside in bad weather to pack up equipment.

Hi OB.

I am currently looking around for some exterior screens as well.

I have the same base vehicle as yourself, so please let me know if you find a decent supplier. I will of course advise you if I find one myself.

Cheers,
Taylormade for our vehicle @ £140.00, there is another manufacturer that has been mentioned on the forum but I'm not sure who they are. Perhaps a member will know, I recall they are more expensive than Taylormade.

Silver Screens are the other major supplier of screen covers.
Just looked at their website which has no price info so will call them on Monday as well as calling Taylormade.

i have internal screens also - i dont know where i would put large external screens to dry when i brought them in from outside in wet weather. i do put strips of toweling along the dashboard glass to catch any condensation but i dont get that much to be honest.

Another big fan of external screens here. Never bought a new one though, generally speaking they tend to be available second-hand as folk change their vans.
The going rate for second-hand is between £40 and £60.
