Scottish Island Ferries

Hi to all,
I have been looking on the Caledonian MacBrayne website with a view to travelling to a few Islands off the west coast of Scotland this year. In the past I have often thought the prices a bit "ott" but I did hear that they where being reduced for 2009. One that I am interested in connecting, Barra, Uist, Harris and Lewis is a remarkable £100 ish cheaper this year, so looks like Island hopping for us. Check out the new prices, you will be surprised.

Happy Camping:)

Thanks for that info, gonna check it out later, price has been steep in the past.

Cheers Tom

One unfortunate result has been that the 50% discount for the vehicles of the most seriously disabled has been removed from all routes under the Road Equivalent Tarif scheme...our local MSP. seems unwilling to explain the reason for this

Hi sagart,
what a bummer! Typical of the big company's, give out with one hand, take with the other. Keep having a go at your MP, don't take "I don't know" for an answer. Hope you eventualy get your discounts back.

Happy Camping:)

keep it quiet!

You could have kept this quiet, I don't want the islands invaded too heavily when I go there at the end of May for a couple of weeks. Peace and quiet is what I'm going for.

ps only joking. I should have posted it myself when I got the prices the other week.

Hi Telstar,
I think most of us go for a bit of peace and quiet, and it will be nice to meet up with other wilders, now that maybe we can afford to go across! We will be going July/Aug for a few weeks Island Hopping, then the Tattoo before leaving bonny Scotland for another year. Luv it.

Happy Camping:)

My very same thoughts Telstar, I have just decided to go at the begining of May so maybe I will beat the mad rush, by the way does anyone recommend this hopscotch lark for a lone motorhomer?
