Scottish Holiday

Hi to all. We're planning a holiday in Scotland, our first, during May/June this year with our T4 camper. We will probably use the Loch Lomond area as a base. So obviously we're looking for good cheap campsites or wild sites. Any recommendations would be welcome.

Glen Orchy area, not far from loch lomand and is lovley.

Stay at the bridge of orchy hotel, in the car park. Cracking pint.

Loads of forestry places around the loch.

Loch Lomond

The first layby on the left after Luss(travelling North) is Ok for overnight . There is road noise but it is OK if you just want somewhere overnight as it is off the road and out of sight.

Rowardenan road end, turn off at Drymen, is near a good pub and has easy access to the West Highland Way and Ben Lomond....water tap on roadside pub wall.

There is also a parking area before this on the left by the loch edge...it's clearly marked, though I can't remember the name...a few miles past Cashel

scottish holidays

stewnjo, welcome to the site. Well timed post for me. We are planning our little trip following in the footsteps of Ricks great island hoping trip that he did last year and I was about to search the site for a late overnight stop between Glasgow and Oban.

When I search the site for locations I am a little hesitant to rely on some as nobody seems to post periodic updates. I don't wild as often as I would like.

Although on trips like this years I will be taking pictures and making notes of gps co-ordinates and locations for posting.

On a seperate note 'jann' you suggest what might be the stop for me on the way up. Is there space there for a small one/two man tent? We are taking a close female friend will be with us (me & wife) and I fear that me and my dogs may be relegated from (my) two berth motorhome.

Loch Lomond

It was evening when We stopped there so we didn't look around much. There were several parking spaces, the ones on the left may have possibilities for a tent.Don't rely on that too much,best to arrive early and have a look.
