We went to the Scottish camping and caravan show today and it was well worth the visit. We were hoping to see our ordered Rapido V68 van conversio, but Rapido were not there. But we saw the Adria equivalent the 640SLB. Nice van until I saw the price £89,000. Ok it’s an auto box, with the 180 engine but £89,000. I mean that’s more than £10,000 more expensive than our new van, and a lower spec. The Carthago C line chique was lovely, but £148,000, you’re having a laugh surely. Two years ago Dicksons of Perth had the Malibu equivalent in stock for £85,000. Prices are just crazy right now. I was relieved to see the amount of Ducatos on show, hopefully they are starting to produce more.

There was an accessory stall there with really keenly priced stuff, I got some elsan toilet liquids at just over half what I normally pay on EBay. But if you don’t book in advance and turn up looking for tickets it’s £15 entry and £14 for over 60s. I bought ours on itison for £7.99 each last month.

I had toyed with going but seen mostly negative reviews about the show, not least the cost of attending - £14 for tickets I think and £11 for parking. I don't know how that can be justified when I can go to the far bigger NEC show for £9.50 with free parking.

Went yesterday met up with Terry Runnoch and his boss Bea. I wasn’t impressed with the the show or the stuff that was on show as said too expensive just as well I got us all free entry and free parking £11 ouch I bought a portable fridge and a pressie for the wife and girls. was looking at a really fancy electric bike but they were only taking orders with a 3 month lead so I offered to buy the display model made a deal and I’ve to pick it up at the end of the show a great price he has to phone me to arrange a time to pick it up just hope he never got a better offer.

I agree we took the bus into town then got the 100 from George Sq.
The show at the NEC is way better, but even taking the car down then an overnight stay in a hotel, you are looking at around £200 all in.
I would not have went had it not been for the Itison deal.
But there were a few van conversions on view.
After viewing them all I reckoned none were a patch on our new van.

I am not sure if I am going to the NEC or not. Would combine the visit to a family visit as well so makes it just more of a stop-over.
Had ticket for last year Feb show, but very wet last Feb and my campsite "grass pitch" booking was cancelled and I also broke my ankle shortly before so walking around would have been painful.
So going to Oct Show last year instead but Linda fell over and hurt her back very painfully so that show was out!
Wondering which calamity will happen in next week or two!

Wully, he did get a better offer, same price you agreed, but I chucked in a brand new portable fridge when they arrive at mines next week. :giggle: (y)

Huge applause to Wully 👏👏👏👏👏 for doing us proud, thank you, sir!! And as Wull says, not a great variety of MH's, lots of panel van conversions, some were decent. Lots of caravans to view, too. We like this one if you have a 4x4 and like to get off the beaten track. https://www.vagabondcaravans.co.uk/

Wully was bonding with his auld pal, the gaffer from BC Motorhomes, and while Wully was giving him a mega earful, I was in one off the Wingamm, which I left with the toilet handle in my hand, which came away when I tried to open toilet door for a peek........LOL.

Ultimately, not impressed with finishing of new MH's, exception, apart from the toilet handle coming away, the Wingamm's are the bizz.

Last Autumn we 'hummed and harred' over buying a Carthago Compactline, in the end we missed their 2023 allocation of Ducato bases, and I think this was by October show, IIRC by then it was 18month wait.

We ordered our new van last July, after waiting 8 months for Rapido to even accept an offer.
Our delivery date was put back to Sept/Oct, but I will not be shocked if its early 2024 :(
One thing I noticed at the exhibition was hardly anyone was sitting down with sales people looking ready to buy.
The table and chairs at the side were almost empty.

Morning Bill, the two mega bucks Cathargo's both had SOLD signs on them and locked up before we left, be around 16.00 hrs. Overall, I hope those trading their various goods have a fruitful four days.

Lovely vans, but £148,000 pricey.

But none the less lovely vans, if that type floats your boat.

Wully, how was the cycle home tonight from the show, was va va vroooooooooooom pedal or throttle power?

Terry Christine talked me out of the bike with a few slaps 😂. We used the money to book flights to Portugal and hire a Motorhome for a week in April.
A slap, you mean a near death experience :giggle: Enjoy your Portugal trip and be good.
