Hi. Going up to Eymouth, St Abbs, Pease Bay area on Sunday for a few days. Anyone know any good wildcamping spots up there. Did a search just now but didnt find anything.

Thanks
Barry

I was up in Eyemouth yesterday but sorry Barry I didn't notice anything as an overnight spot. I did notice quite a smart Caravan Club CL if you're a member, on the road down into Eyemouth from the A1 on your right - I wasn't ready to stop though so no detail.

What I can recommend though is a visit to Coldingham Sands, just before St Abbs - follow the signs to the right just after the caravan park in Coldingham. I had an amazing hour there for lunch - got a crab at Collin's in Eyemouth and ate it down by the beach. Mind the weather helped - very windy, cold but bright. There is car park there but it is very sloping.

Have fun.

Thanks for that. We have booked the first night on a CL which might be the one you mentioned. I am sure we will find some other spots.

Hi Barry. you could try the harbor carpark at St Abbs head, see the harbor master, I think he may ask you to make a donation to the RNLI, its a great spot, I dive up there a fair bit, Ive seen M/H there before, hope you get sorted.

Hi. Yes I wondered about the harbor. May give it a try, thanks for the tip. Good cause the RNLI as well as a devout Boaty I may need them one day!!

I'd be interested to hear how you get on in these parts as we hope to get there sometime in the not too distant future.

Hi Christine

We have been there loads of times years ago but we only became motorhome owners last May so we never sussed out the likely spots. Someone said you may be able to stop at St Abbs harbor and Im pretty sure there will be a few places to stay. Its a fantastic place to visit and the cliffs at St Abbs Head are just superb. From memory its a hairy single track road up to the cliffs but we have a scooter so will check it out on that first.

Will report back either during the trip or after.

Regards
Barry

We were actually there in the 80's in a tent, long before we had a motorhome. I remember the road to St. Abbs. We also have a motorbike on the motorhome so we can suss out accessability on minor roads before actually taking the plunge!

I drive to St Abbs a fair bit, the road to the harbor is quite steep, but not too bad, I drive a 7.3 M/H plus bikes and we manage, hope you have a good visit, there are loos at St Abbs and a couple of places in the harbor for food etc, PS If anyone is into diving its a great dive site.

Last time I was there a 17 tonne fridge van delivered to the cafe in the car park. Don't know how welcome you would be there. They charge a lot for parking cars during the "season". You can park at Eyemouth, Take the 1st turning south of the river and head towards the sea. One nice spot overlooking the town and you can walk across a bridge which has limited vehicular access, no boy racers. Quiet at night but only 5 minute walk for a pint or takeaway. ;)

Hi Folks

Well we are three days into our trip and having a great time. Spent two nights at the CL at Eymouth as it was quite nice and we were the only ones on it. Its shutting in May mind you as they reckon its just not worth it. I can vouch for the carpark above the new harbor. Saw a nice MH on its own in there. St Abbs car park I think will probably be ok out of season. If you have a small van like a VW camper you may get up to St Abbs Head (we went on the bike) but no way with our Kontiki. I cant stress how superb it is up there. The cliffs and birds are just out of this world. In a small van you could get away with staying at the cliff top near the lighthouse but I reckon you might get blown away in the night! We have moved on today to the North Berwick area and have found a nature reserve car park between Aberlady and Gullane with views right across the Firth of Forth. Sombody recomended it so hopefully it will be ok for the night. Not sure where to go next either north to St Andrews area or south to Kielder. Any suggestions welcome and thanks for the posts

Cheers
Barry
