Scenic Scotland

Well I'm off to Glasgow this weekend on a bit business, think I'll take the scenic route via Coldstream-Peebles-Galashiels etc.
Hope to find my own little haven to camp en-route but any little hints of known spots would be gladly received.

P.S. I'll be travelling at night.

Is it cold in a van in scotland at this time of year and would you recommend it over the winter,or is it better to wait until the spring.? Our van isn't winterised.

Yes,Pamela it will be cold this time of year in any van ,winterised or not,so take this into account when loading up.
I have a gas night heater fitted but have to bear in mind that it could flatten the leisure battery, depending on it's condition.
However if you feel a little nervous about winter camping, you could always try it one night at home in your drive, and should it get too much to bear ,you can always run back indoors and get warmed up.
Otherwise just wait for warmer conditions.

Good Luck.
P.S. I'm not an experienced wild camper but I have experience in life, and follow my instincts,Thats what makes it the more exciting

winter camping

A hot water bottle & an extra blanket [preferable ex army] is all you need + a willingness to suffer fer your pleasure. worst I've had to endure was a miserable -7 on the Stanraer Rd in a Townace MPV. Have fun.
