I meant to post this weeks ago but forgot until someone started another thread parking in musselburgh then I remembered about this experience I got a full refund.
There’s a hefty scam going on at the harbour in Musselburgh there’s a web site with a paypal account that asks for a £15 donation to park a motorhome. I payed this £15 a few weeks back and when I arrived I was approached by a local who seemingly runs this scam he told me I’d have to wait till a few cars left car park then I could park up. After looking and finding this a public car park and not suitable for motorhomes I challenged him about the£15 he got a bit touchy but when I told him I was gonna speak to a cop or someone from council he turned all nice and offered a full refund. I have had two emails from the organiser and he states that he is part of the committee who run fisherrow. All they offer currently is a car parking space around the harbour office, and you are asked to park elsewhere if they are filled with cars, then move in when a space becomes available. I don’t think any larger spaces marked out for us are currently available. And to be honest wullie I would not pay £15 a night for what is in effect only a parking space with virtually no facilities, other than water and limited toilet facilities. I intended paying £10. Lochore only charge £12.50 for EHU chemical waste and water. Also I have been monitoring the situation and since setting this up, according to the bookings no more than two vans have booked at anyone time. We were intending to visit there in winter, I will keep us posted.

they don’t even have an A4 sign anywhere there’s a notice board at harbour office with no mention of motorhome parking. I kept pushing this guy to find out who and where the money was going he defiantly did not like being asked certain questions I managed to find out through the re fund via pay pal that this is a private account held in this individual’s name. the way the website is layed out it all seems official and above board but I defiantly smell a rat

If this is a scam then the man running it is clearly leaving himself wide open to prosecution. I don’t think it would much effort to locate where the money is going and what is being done with it. I will contact the fisherrow trust today to find out more about this. Here’s their website if anyone else wants to contact them.
I await a reply. Will post if I receive one.
