Saving weight

We are off on a trip tomorrow for about 3 weeks and have loaded everything but the kitchen sink into the van.

We have a super King size overcab bed which we only use for storage. I had the bright idea of removing the mattress and leaving it at home to save weight. I had read somewhere that Fiat Ducato`s can be easily overloaded on the front axle.

I got the mattress down with a struggle and then the wife and I had to get it indoors. If somebody had made a video of us struggling with it, they would have been guaranteed £250 from You`ve Been Framed.:D

The bleeding thing weighs a ton and like all mattresses, had a mind of its own.

Is it going back in? I do not think so.

everyone I know with a ducato based motorhome struggles not to overload the REAR axle

Its not my fault I have a body like a Greek god.

Muscles weigh heavy you know.

Although when I think about it, you would NOT know.

Come on Maingate, we all know its your wallet that's heavy,

Aj told me a story of when you were doing your hypnotist act on stage, and had just hypnotised 7 men from the audience, putting them in a trance. Then accidentally you dropped your wallet on your foot. Letting out a cry of "Bugger me"
Well the next part of the story will haunt me for the rest of my life.:D:D:D
Have a good break. Rgds' Graham.

Leave the bliddy dogs at home. Think of the weight of all them dammed gold cups that you'll have to take back if yer divnae!!!!;):p:p:p

Stuck our Ducato Chauson on the VOSA weighbridge at J18/M1 Crick last week... I've only got 80kg left!! I only had a quarter tank of water & fuel, and with a 132ltr water tank (1ltr = 1kg) so I guess I won't be travelling with a full water tank anymore!!

What sort of nonsense is that.

Me and the wife have not spoken to one another for nigh on 20 years. We will just sit there uncomfortable if there are no dogs.

Anyway, the Pugs are better to look at than er indoors.

My Dad doesn' travel anywhere with a full fuel tank as he reckons you are using more fuel to carry the weight and i'm sure he's right. I'd personally never travel with a full water tank unless I really, really had to.

I just fill a palastic 5 gallon drum and take that for the water it should last a day and then fill her up nearer to the terget destination.

We always leave with a full water tank, although we know it adds weight etc, the last thing I want to do when we get to our destination is find some water, and if we want to stop on journey for a cuppa we can.

If wildcamping we also take a aquaroll full aswell, having 3 kids and dog then we need to know we have water.
