Hello out there!

Has anyone had any experience with the Garmin Nuvi 660 they'd like to share?

Regards, mom

Hi There

Hi, I don,t have a Garmin, but have used a Navman 601 system for a few years and find it very good at times and a pain in the a.. at other times. The thing with all these small flash card systems is that they are a bit slow, if there is a lot of juctions say off a fast roundabout, the system is always 300 yards to late to make its mind up, and one goes sailing off in the wrong direction, and then the system has to play catch up with you.
I have just paid for a new DVD system which has all of europe on one disk, The down side of these systems are the cost of buying the hardware and the add on cost of updating the software, ie the maps.
The flash card systems all have their place, and are great bits of kid, but you will need a good map.

We have, for about 3 years, used a Medion system from Aldi, of all places, which cost approx £230 when purchased but I seem to remember seeing them down to £160 a couple of months ago!
She's never missed a beat, the only time she was "wrong" was when we were heading for Thornborough, Yorks we, in the middle of the night and totally reliant on the Sat Nav, came across a newly constructed by-pass which wasn't mapped and suddenly found the little pointer arrow in no mans land for 4 or 5 miles but as soon as we came off the by-pass she resumed on the existing road.
The system has cashpoints, police stations, cinemas, theatres, petrol stations, supermarkets etc etc mapped but there is no "speed camera" function which is no problem if you do not speed!
Not the most technically advanced system but does what it says on the tin!
My Twopenneth on the subject...
