Sat Navs

After deliberating for a few years whether i should buy one or not, i finally bit the bullet and bought one last week.
Some eagle eyed bargain hunter on another site i use (Hot UK Deals) posted details of a great deal, but obviously a mistake, on a Navman on Amazon. If you added a leather sat nav case to your order it applied a £30 discount to the sat nav price, so the sat nav and case went down to £58, an incredible discount.
Amazon realised the mistake after a huge influx of orders and promply corrected it... but they did honour the price that everone got it for before Amazon sussed it.
Anyway its a great piece of kit, and i can see now why people like them so much.

satnav

Whose a lucky boy then, glad somebody got a bargain.
wait till you drive down a one way street the wrong way because its on satnav.

enjoy but use with care!

They seem to be getting cheaper all the time, but NOT that cheap. I have been using an IBM 10" laptop fed by a Garmin GPS 'thingy' running Naviagator 6 and Autoroute 2006.

I like the big display but it does get in the way a bit so I'm looking at a Garmin 250 Widescreen with EU mapping at £124.99 from Halfords... unless anyone knows better/cheaper!?! (Then my little laptop will be up for sale to pay for it).

i use an XDA11 with tom tom 6 software and GPS receiver birthday present from my son last year.

I was at a motorcycle rally this w/e for 3 days on the Gower Peninsula, the Sat Nav took me an excellent route through Swansea, alerting me to speed camera's and traffic light camera's, and took me straight to the rally which was in the wilds of nowhere.
I'm definitely converted, i should have got one years ago.

Hi, I use a tomtom GO910, picked this due to it having a hard drive, easy to download poi,s and lat-lon positions etc, also able to use walk. so I never lose the hymer when walking around a large new city.
Only thing I don,t like about it, is its a bit fat for the pocket.

We use a TomTom 4years old now never had any operation problems
but yes a bit bulky for you pocket:D

tomtom

I woudn't be without my satnav. Xmas present last year as an upgrade to one of the first tomtoms. I have the rider now, so that I can use it on the bike, in the car or van. Yes it was expensive but I use it. It takes me on some great routes but I only use it as a guide in the main. You have to apply common sense aswell. If I din't use it on the motorbike, I would have gone for a far cheaper option, but for bikes the choice is somewhat limited.

I don't mid using a map but should a traffic jam occur or I get diverted, I can rely more on tomtom than the wife (map reader) whether she is awake or asleep to get me where I want to go. I cannot recall it ever getting me into trouble, I can do that without tomtoms help!

My medion sat nav ,(on a P.D.A) went belly up on route to Pickering, It was the 12v lead that supplied both aerial and satnav.
On my return tried to order a new lead but could not find a split one on the site and a striaght lead was £27.
So I browsed the site for satnavs and they had a gopal with speed camerra alerts and full digit post codes for £44.98..... so i got it and grand it is.
However in the Sunday papers an advert for one of the shopping channels was offering a navman for........ £19.99.

Those shopping channels are a big con, They probably only had a few Sat Navs, but they get premium rates from the calls that thousands of people will make trying to get a bargain like that..... Most of them will be dissapointed to find out they've sold out after spending loads on a phone call.

I use a map, or maps:D:D
Don'T like these new fangled things:D
Only liked the wheel because of the motorhome:D:D

i am the same trusted maps and my memory for years ,when you are used to driving all over the country you seem to be able to find your way round :D:D
