Sat nav volume

This is my last resort! Not that this forum was an after thought - but I have tried everywhere else.

My van has an all singing/dancing radio/dvd/sat nav (Kenwood). I have just bought the van. When I am stationary, engine off I can set the sat nav volume to 100% and the kind lady says '100'. I can hear this well. However, when I am on the road when 'she' says something I cannot hear her e.g. the radio will mute and something is said but so faintly that I cannot hear it. Any ideas?
