We have the chance of a very short 7 day, round trip around Santander. As we have never been before can anyone suggest places to stay and explore?
We will be going late February or early March.
Thanks.

San Sebastian is a two and a half hour drive away .
Follow the coast back to Santander. Hondarroa , Zumaia , Getaria and lots of little bays are all along this coast

The Elephants Aire. Possibly the most unusual view we've ever had from a site. Couple of reasonable food places within a 5 min walk.

I thought this was going to be a banking thread
That's just taking the Peseta the OP ... :ROFLMAO:

'Why do they call him Dec?'
'Because he hasn't got enough levels to be called Decks' :ROFLMAO: (To mangle a Tim Vine Edinburgh Festival winning joke)

Not in a good place with the Bank of that name.

Wanted some plumbing / decorating doing and got a quote (£200) from the local (actually he is from Brazil) , but lives here now!) handyman.
He gave a quote, I accepted it and he did the work and did a great job. No hidden extras, the bill was exactly as per quote.

When I asked how he wanted paying he said "Bank Transfer, because I just spend cash".
Set him up as a payee and tried to transfer the cash. Responded to all the possible "Potential Fraud" warnings but eventually they refused to make the payment and blocked all my accounts.
I rang and asked why they blocked the accounts.
Santander: "It is a scam"

Me: " How can it be a scam? The work is done and I have accepted it"
Santander: "The computer says It is a scam"

Me: " Again How can it be a scam? The work is done and I have accepted it"
Santander: "Again, The computer says It is a scam"

Me :" It is my money, I am telling you to pay it. Even if it is a scam make the transfer
Santander: "It could be money laundering"

Me: " for £200 ?"
Santander: "Whatever the amount it could be money laundering"

Me: "So what can I do?
Santander: "We can unblock the accounts, you can go to an ATM, take the cash out and give it to him.

Me: "But it could be a scam or money laundering"
Santander:"But we are not involved"

Sanatander "By the way, if you try and make a transfer To his account we will block all your accounts and will only unblock them after you have visited a branch"

I signed onto a Nationwide account and made the transfer with no issues.

Wow, that's terrible. It reminds me of the Little Britain TV series!

Just to put the thread back on topic, I once stayed a couple of days in santander before catching the boat. It's a lovely place and sadly most of us just head off straight from the boat.
There is a lovely beach to walk along and a big old house on a prom.
If you are in a van then the picos de europa are near ??

But we are talking about the Bank that uses Ant & Dec to promote its Brand ...

Liérganes was always a stopover for use whilst in the area for the outdoor market and the best ice cream we`ve ever tasted in the Pasteleria.

On the corner as you turn down to the railway station and the aire ( free ) on the other side of the track, it`s a terminal station so no trains overnight.

You`re also not far from The Cabárceno Nature Park which has the ( Elephant aire, free but very basic ) as per r4dent`s post at the rear of it, walk down the track at the far end of the aire on the left and you are right at the side of the Elephant compound, they are very inquisitive so will come over giving you the perfect oppotunity for photos.

Disclaimer :- Be very careful of the wooden balcany sticking out high up on the left as you turn down the road from the village towards the aire, you`ll see all the damage to the bottom corner, The last time we went the local VW pop top brigade was having an informal meet there and late on friday evening they kept coming in to the point it was absolutely rammed and bloody noisy

Many thanks, we are great mountain view people. With a 7.5m motorhome would this be a no no?

Road to Potes is OK, although a lot of work being carried out so you need time. That was the case last summer.
