Earlier this year, I contacted Smith's customer services to ask if I could park on any of their pubs near Leeds, after a number of family get togethers over the summer as we were travelling up from Portugal. As an expat tyke, I was looking forward to putting a few pints of their excellent bitter, inside me... ( pure flannel, but it's cheap).

I explained that our parties would dine and drink, but we would need to overnight in our small, self contained MH.

" Oh no ! Mr Humphrey doesn't allow that sort of thing !", was the snotty reply .

OK, thought I, buns to them.

I'm already boycotting Theakstons and Black Sheep, because of Masham's attitude to MH.s.. Smiths can join them.

Now I read in today's Telegraph that the Pensions Agency has been investigating them over their ability to pay future pension commitments.

They have pleaded guilty of failing to supply the relevant documents ...
Quake in your boots, Paul Theakston. You might be next!

Theakstones.... John smiths....

Bloody hell it'll be Timmy Taylor next...

Frankly you are doing yourself a favour avoiding pish like that...
Get yourself around some proper ale instead.

Guess I'm lucky having a heap of small breweries close to me that retail to the general public.

Where's that?
Have they got level car parks ?
I'm planning a fact finding visit to Batemans Brewery, Wainfleet, Lincs. They have a campsite attached.

I would rather drink Sam Smiths and not have a place to sleep than drink Tim Taylors even if I could sleep in the carpark and they threw in a free breakfast!

So Tim's not your favourite tipple then ?

you could always give me the free breakfast....... :rabbit:

All this talk of beer making me thirsty I never liked English bitters that were served in the big chain pubs here in Scotland stuff like Adams and tetly but over the last few years being out and about in the van and getting to the wee local English pubs with hand pumps and real ales I’m now a convert some real good stuff out there Kirby Lonsdale beer festival 200 beers 100 ciders and I had a good go at trying them all yum 😋

Near K Lonsdale is Dent, which used to serve some nice real ales. The Sun Inn i think it was

they opened a local brewery up just below our office, had been there a while before i knew about it. From what those that drink say its good stuff and very popular. Not sure anything at 12% should be called a bear though 1669, Scrumpy Jack or Stella is bad enough!

Here ya go for the experts, see what you think Beers | Buxton Brewery

I'm pished just looking at them beers, wouldn't mind trying a few for real.

He certainly will not be bothered over a few MHs. He wouldn't let them build a small temporary footbridge on his land for long enough when the town was cut in two after the road bridge in town collapsed. Whilst what he said and his reasons could be true. Short term several businesses were crippled due to his stance.

He sounds like a character in Wuthering Heights... A throwback.

Maybe we should have a WC Boycott list ? The spending power of this website alone, is awesome..... And that's not including Robmac's beer bills.

Don't think so - I use the Falcon in Chester, that is Sam Smith, best pub in town and cheap.

No swearing in his pubs either, he goes in incognito and if he hears swearing he will shut the pub down there and then (there are recent examples near me). His reason "because I can".
