Rutland Water

We still go, but as the laird says the place isn't the same. Now that booking and payment is all done online, I can't remember the last time I saw anybody on site actually enforcing their rules - especially the rule about dogs being on a lead at all times. The last couple of times we were there, dogs were running about all over the place, the owners not concerned about where they were leaving their mess or causing a nuisance.
 
I have been in a few times but not often and there is a groundsman guy about, usually leaves you alone though. Anywhere that does online booking and sends gate code is good for me.

The last time I was there, I parked the wrong way ie. sideways in relation to the lake rather than lengthways thereby potentially blocking somebody else's view.

I was then approached by a ranger who quite rightly pointed this out in a very friendly manner. He said that I wasn't causing any problem at the moment but if I wouldn't mind moving the van at some point in my own time.

I'm pretty sure they would be very concerned about dogs bothering people and leaving mess all over the place, but they can't monitor the whole site 100% of the time, it's a big site! Did you raise your concerns with them?

Arthur and Madeleine were lovely people who I got to know very well over the years, but now they are gone that doesn't mean the new staff don't care.
