Just had a long chat with Robbie Blythe.
Robbie has asked me not to mention certain aspects, and I will obviously oblige.
But what I can tell you is Fife are not in anyway put off by events at Elie, and at Kingsbarns. Even with the terrible behaviour, and one of his wardens being verbally abused by a moron.
Robbie accepts that the current model is flawed and he is ready to put forward ideas for what he termed “the next stage”. Robbie informed me that the Scottish government are keen to see an expansion towards the Fife model throughout Scotland.
I put forward that they should close Elie to motorhomes in the high season and only make it available in the winter months. Whilst Robbie referred to this as the nuclear option it’s not off the table. Robbie admitted he had not thought of the option of only having Elie available in the low season.
They are keen to expand facilities throughout Fife and Leven looks set to make more spaces and an elsan point available in the near future. His ambition is to provide 150 spaces by the end of the year.
I reckon (and this is only my opinion) that we are going to see changes in what Fife are doing, and that these changes will lead to a better model for us, for the Trust, and for the locals.
Robbie gave us some good news.
The Good News: We have a new location with 4 overnight bays (£10 a night) based in Glenrothes River Side carpark. It includes a Chemical Waste Point (entry fee £3). There is also an overnight toilet which has a urinal, toilet, and sink. This link takes you to the location but its from 2023.
