I have broken the gaiter on the trailer brake overrun(?) Just a few questions
I think its an ALKO S120 hitch at least this is the only ref I can see that looks like part number
It has 2 bolts holding it to the 35mm tube the bolts are the nylock type can I reuse or must I replace
Any suggestions as to where I can get replacement gater ( once I know how to reference it)
Many thanks

Morning,

I have in the past often reused nylock type nuts with no know problems.

Reusing once should not be a proble in my opinion.

Unable to help with the gator problem, may be take it off and check to see if it can be repaired using a similar rubber product and a good glue?

All the best

is it the rubber bellows gator thats like a steering rack gator .if so mabey you could fashion one out of a universal steering rack gator cheap from any motor factors .also nylok nuts are only a one use item, but if you want you could use a little thread lock on them .but there cheap enough to buy new.

If you go to Indespension Ltd, Unit 2,Cardiff Trade Pk Whittle Road, Cardiff, South Glamorgan, CF11 8AT you can buy a new gaiter for approx £10, they will sell you a couple of nylock nuts cheap too but I also reuse them

Indespension parts Alko Pressed Delta Coupling Spares | Braked Couplings | Tow Balls & Couplings | Trailer Parts | Indespension Indespension also do a cracking trailer manual for £5.00 that gives a good step by step guide to most jobs.

Though for a specialist coupling head this is a better simpler guide it shows that all you have to do other than undo and do up bolts is centre up the dampers bolt holes. Don't forget to grease afterwards. Triple lock head fitting/replacment guide (Braked coupling) | UK-Trailer-Parts

you can now get cv boots that wrap round and glue togeather , maybe some of the glue would do but don't know if you could just buy the glue

they have been out for years .i remember using them when i was a mechanic ,and i packed it all in before they brought out the mondeo, ford were still making the sierra .. they were useless then .may be better now though.

They were useless then as you say, lasted from one MOT until the next but were great if you were selling the car, the glue was just superglue but the edges you glued together were a tongue and groove joint, if you glue a split gaiter it will not last long
