Just had our last trip in the van for this year - off to New Zealand and Australia for 3 months.
Reflecting on what we have seen this year and also thinking further back.
Compared to what we saw when we started 13 years ago and what we see in Europe there seem to be many more vans with basic / very little conversion about, which often appear to be staying put for a while and sometimes travelling together. There were a lot on Mill Road, Arundel a few days ago. Generally they are quiet, but not always, and we only see folk when they are heading into the woods with a spade in the morning. Last Thursday in Linfield there was a decrepid caravan, with no registration plate, with a generator running all evening.
Each to his or her own and I know some are short of cash and I don't blame them for wanting a nomadic life with no ties but I do wonder about the consequences if locals complain leading to more restrictions.
