Right or wrong

My late father in law was born & raised in a village & lived in it until the age of eighteen (1939) when he volunteered for the navy for the duration of our last
little disagreement with some members of Continental Europe.

On leave a couple of years later he was refused a beer in his usual pub in the village. The excuse was that he was not a local or regular customer.

Forty years later some of the older members of the community were still talking about the riot / punch up / etc that ensued.

Dezi :pc:

The article starts as :-
A holidaymaker trying to return to Eastbourne from Cornwall in her motorhome has been denied fuel at a garage because she was not local.

Simple answer :- Well, I dont want to risk running out of fuel, so i'm stopping right here on your forcourt until you do let me have some fuel ..... Oh and no, I won't take the sign out of my front window declaring you a TO55ER unless you GIVE me the fuel for NOW'T !!!

Fight fire with fire !! thats my motto. Can't think why I didn't last in the fire brigade!

Yes you can have my last drop of fuel!!! now what do I give that ambulance thats just pulled in behind you!!!

All the emergency services have their own fuel supply (even some larger taxi companies).

Okay, so you may get the odd emergency vehicle running out 'mid job' but this is very rare. Plus, I would imagine EVERYONE would allow an ambulance to go in front of them in a queue situation like that, but this is not what the article is about. The article is about some little garage thinking they are being loyal to their local customers when in fact the only reason their customers are loyal to them is that there isn't another garage for miles. Once Tesco move in, whatch how loyal those customers are then!!

tesco only couple mile up the road and they would have passed it iam sure so why didnt thay go there i know perhaps they saw the queues ok i know that holiday maker bring in the trade but who services the trade the locals, and if they dont work then there is no holiday trade and they have to travel because the bus service is next to nothing at times

Why din ee tell'n you wuz frum Kernow maid? Matey woulda give ee sum then...an charged ee double!

Completely wrong to deny them, any shortages the garage was experiences must have been caused by locals panic buying. There is no real fuel shortage, all this has been caused by a stupid comments from the government telling people to top up their tanks & fill jerry cans with spare fuel. There never was any imediate danger of a strike all that had happened was the tanker drivers union had a ballot of members to have a mandate to call a strike if the negotiations were to fail. Th panic buying & shortages were all caused by the government trying to blame the tanker drivers, all it has accomplished is chaos, a woman badly burned & shown the tanker drivers how quickly they can bring the country to a halt.

I wonder how much extra revenue the government has made from all the suckers panic buying right when they needed it for the balance sheet at the end of this quarter which i think is tomorrow. I wonder if it was just enough to show to give a false impression that we have not gone back into recession. Genius!

There is a large notice on our local pub saying:

"Draymens strike next week.
Beer shortage
Fill up now while stocks last.
Anyone served"

:lol-049::raofl::cheers:

i dont get how much more the government have made extra. its not extra, those who have filled up their tank wont be going back for a few weeks so next week we will see how the petrol stations have dropped in sales, what will happen tho is, like most people, when you put petrol in, you allways almost everytime buy something else, drink, crisps, sausage rolls (exc VAT) lol, etc, that will have a massive effect on the stations,
