Restricted viewing, what does it mean?
Does it mean that a section ie Wildcamping Sites is only available to Site Supporters?

I can view the Wildcamping sections as a Site Supporter but so can a pal view it who is not a supporter.

My reason for asking is that I don't mind sharing info with people who are making a contribution to this site but am a bit reluctant with regard to those who do not

Hi, it means that the information can be viewed a limited times per month unless you are a site supporter.

The only reason that I asked is that I would be would happy to post some locations I have recently found but feel that the people who should benefit are those who are prepared to contribute to the website.

The little bit of knowledge in the Wildcamping Resources and the Wild Camping Sites are the wealth of the website.

Sorry about that, I'm not looking for any arguments about fees or knowledge being free etc.

Hi baloothebear,

When canalsman announced that he had a comprehensive download of stopovers, long term members, who had never or hardly ever contributed to this site, came out of the woodwork to claim a copy.

You cannot change human nature, some people will always take and never give. A lot of us feel just the same as you.

There is one member (long standing) who signs in virtually every night and has never made a post. He seems to enjoy playing in the `games` section.

If you want to, you could always pm a spot to a member who is asking. That way, you are not giving to undeserving members. Personally, I would still post openly, even though I knew that everyone could use the info.

I have noticed that as soon as an area is placed on here that within a short time the Councils and/or Babylon make a move to shut it down. Witness Aldebrough; that was used for years but as soon as it became well publicised it all went nasty.

The area that I'm thinking of is very handy for Croyde, Woolacombe and Bideford but I know that it won't take long for people to trash it if the details go on an open forum

People who contribute have an interest in keeping areas usable; especially if they have made a financial commitment. At least, that's what I have noticed over the years.

As an aside: I went to Damage Barton campsite in North Devon last week: Beautifuuly laid out, showers & Khazis spotless and virtually all pitches were hard standing. It wasn't that cheap to stay but by keeping prices up and being CC and C&CC members only, they detered the wreckers.

Do we really want two tiered campsites? That's a different issue altogether. If you want a quiet one then you don't book in to one with a licensed club surely.

why would you want to go and damage barton?????;)

Good site though and wonderful views. What no-one tells you about is the B wind hacks across the fields up there :D

I noticed that they do a 2 month stay during the winter months when anyone sensible will go to Spain if they can. I reckon that you'd want to be pretty determined to stick it out up there when the weather closes in

Hey Baloo, I've got an idea! if you don't want to post details of a spot... then don't.

My 7 year old grandson often says things along the line of "I know something, but I'm not telling you". I really don't care if he tells me or not, but I join in the game to humour him;).
