reserving your 'pitch'

We will bw going off fcor our first trip and want to spend a few nights on a site. How do you all keep your pitch reserved if you want to go out I.e. To the pub for dinner? We wondered about getting a windbreak, but that wouldn't work on a hard standing.

Usualy a step or bucket left on the pitch does the trick. If on a C&CC site, you are guided to your pitch so not much chance of new arrivals claiming yours. Never heard of steps being stolen in all my years of Motorhoming. Small Motorhome Pitch Reserved signs can be purchased on e-bay if you want to be posh.:D

Happy Camping:)

A workmate of mine, has recently purchased his first M/h and about a month ago he left his pitch on a Caravan Club site and to mark that he was coming back he left one yellow block and his power lead.
On his return, the yellow block had been stolen:eek::eek:
We use a m/h using this pitch sign:D

It would appear that the best policy would be to leave nothing, and get the warden to shift any pitch intruders. Would'nt have thought members of the clubs would stoop so low as to steal off a pitch.

Happy Camping:)(if you don't get robbed)

I wouldn't bother I'd just go out and park in the place if it's still empty or park somewhere else.

That's the joy of wild camping - you never know what's around the corner.

In Norway the other year we had a Swedish family turn up and park next to us as we were in the middle of dinner - "We always camp here, would we mind sharing?" - had a great evening chatting with them and their kids.

If you have n't paid for it - it ain't reserved is my opinion.

tks

Hello, my post was because a few years ago, on the New Forest, some motorhomers came back to find other people on their pitch and all hell broke loose. I guess if you are on a proper site, and you are shown to your pitch, this does not arise, similarly with wild camping.

Why on earth would it matter - as long as you have somewhere to put your 4 or 6 wheels while you sleep why do you need territory? :confused:Can't see the attraction of staying on a site myself having wild camped for 40 years without the need for sites.

Being a newbie to motorhoming, I have yet to decide what is best, wild or site camping.

I'm quite new to owning a M/H, we have used sites and also wildcamped, I enjoy best of both worlds, you will find that the UK ain't very M/H friendly unlike our friends across the channel, also a sit offers the chance for charge up, shower, toilet empty and fill up tanks etc.

Happy wildcamping & site camping.

Regards Tom

I've usually got something handy to "mark my spot with" but most frequent seems to be a soft plastic bucket I keep in the side locker. I put it in the middle of the entrance of "my" bay with some water or something to stop it blowing around,,,, never had a problems
